Felt Ball Colour Sorting Activity
Felt Ball Colour Sorting Activity
Ideal for people with mid-late stage dementia who enjoy sorting activities.
How to use with people with dementia: Place the felt balls, silicone cup cake pans and tweezers on table in front of the participant. Ask the person if they would like to help sort the balls into different colours (simple), or into different colours into the cup cake pans (more complex). Demonstrate to the participant how to do what you are inviting them to do and then ask if they would like to do it themselves.
The complexity of option you choose will depend on the participants abilities. Less complicated for a person with more advanced dementia and more complicated (more steps involved) for people with mid stage dementia.
The objective of this or any activity is for the person to be content and comfortable engaging in the activity in which ever way they are comfortable to do so. Do NOT correct the person if they don’t follow as instructed. Simply encourage their participation.
