Peg Fine Motor Skill Activity
Excellent activity to develop fine motor skills, coordination and rehabilitation following injury or stroke by pegging the pegs onto the side of a bowl.
How can it help a person following a stroke: This activity can help to improve a persons fine motor skills such as the ability to be able to feed themselves as pegging pegs and picking up cutlery require similar grip amd range of movement
How to use as a rehabilitation activity or for a person with dementia: Place both bowls and the pegs in front of the person, show the person how to pick up a peg and peg it onto the side of the bowl. Then ask the participant if they would like to try to do the same. If they are happy to do so, encourage them to continue the activity for as long as they are happy to do so or until complete.
The objective of this or any activity is for the person to be content and comfortable engaging in the activity in which ever way they are comfortable to do so. Do NOT correct the person if they don’t follow as instructed. Simply encourage their participation.
