Sorting Tray with Rakes

Wooden sorting tray with 3 rakes is ideal for sorting through sand or rice for sensory  relaxation.

How to use with people living with dementia: fill tray with sand or rice or a combination of rice and lentils.  Sit the tray in front of the person and invite them to sort through the contents with the various rakes or with their fingers.  Show the participant how they can use the activity and invite them to participate in whichever way they choose. 

The objective of this or any activity is for the person to be content and comfortable engaging in the activity in which ever way they are comfortable to do so. Do NOT correct the person if they don’t follow as instructed. Simply encourage their participation.
