How to use with a person living with dementia: This activity is ideal for a person with mid-stage dementia. With the participant seated comfortably at a table, place all pieces on the table in front of them, ask the participant if they could help you thread the cord through the blocks, show the person how to thread the cord through the block, invite the person to have a go at threading the cord through the block, observe their ability manage the activity and if they look to be content and happy to continue, encourage them to continue.
The objective of this or any activity is for the person to be content and comfortable engaging in the activity in which ever way they are comfortable to do so. Do NOT correct the person if they don’t follow as instructed. Simply encourage their participation.
